Town of Golden welcomes new Fire Chief Print Article Font Size
The Town of Golden is pleased to announce Mike Pecora has been appointed as the new Fire Chief, effective immediately.

Chief Pecora brings with him 19 years of fire service and proven leadership within Golden Fire Rescue.
“I am honoured to be the new Fire Chief,” said Pecora. “I was born and raised in Golden and I am passionate about keeping the residents of our community safe. I look forward to continue working with the amazing career and volunteer firefighters to serve our community.”

As Deputy Fire Chief over the last year and a half, Pecora has made significant improvements to training programs, inventory tracking, recruitment, procurement and operations systems.

“I am pleased to congratulate Chief Mike Pecora on achieving this position,” said Jon Wilsgard, Chief Administrative Officer. “Mike has been filling a gap left by the departure of David Balding in early 2019. He has since built the confidence and support of both Administration and Council, as well as the cadre of firefighters in his abilities and in their department to a greater level than previously seen by this corporation.”

In 2021, Chief Pecora will be overseeing the department’s acquisition of a new fire truck to replace aging Engine 6, and continuing his work to improve the department in many ways.
