The Town of Golden is taking Coronavirus (COVID-19) seriously, and understands the concerns the community of Golden may have about the spread of the virus. After careful consideration of the rapidly-changing circumstances around Coronavirus (COVID-19), and in the best interest of the community, the Town of Golden is making significant changes to services and programming to protect the health and well-being of staff and residents.
“The health and safety of our employees and the residents we serve and interact with, is our number one priority,” said Mayor Ron Oszust. “We are closing all Town of Golden facilities to the public to do our part in helping minimize the risk of transmission and the spread of Coronavirus in the community.”
Effective immediately, the Town of Golden will be closing all Town owned facilities to the public. Please see a full list of facility closures below:
  • Town Hall: if you need to make a payment, visit to learn more about how you can pay your bill online using online banking, drop off a cheque or money order through the mail slot or mail a cheque or money order to Town of Golden, PO Box 350, Golden BC, V0A 1H0
  • Mount 7 Rec Plex: all public programming is cancelled.
  • The Fire Hall
  • Golden Civic Centre
  • Golden Seniors Centre
  • Public Works Facilities
All closures will be in effect until further notice.
Town of Golden staff will continue to work and provide essential services based on our business continuity plan. This includes taking into consideration social distancing practices and allowing those who can, to work from home.
“We want to thank the community for their patience during this time,” said Chief Administrative Officer, Jon Wilsgard. “We encourage all residents to take this seriously and follow the advice of health officials. Practice social distancing, wash your hands, and if you are sick, stay home!”
Town staff will continue to monitor the situation and follow advice of both provincial and federal leaders to determine a re-opening plan when the timing is appropriate.
