Spring is officially here, the weather is getting warmer and you may be wondering, “What is happening in Golden this spring and summer?”
We have a great way for residents to find out!
On Thursday April 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Town of Golden Recreation team is hosting the annual Spring Information and Registration Night at the Mount 7 Rec Plex.
The expo-style evening provides an ideal place for groups to share their goals and objectives, and for the public to take in dynamic displays and demonstrations from the many recreational opportunities Golden has to offer. It’s also a great way for organizations to network with each other.
“This annual event showcases the many organizations that provide valuable services to our community,” says Mayor Ron Oszust. “It’s a great way for new and long-time members of our community to be informed, get active and get involved.”
This year’s event promises to be both informative and fun. Check out what the Farmers Market, Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy and Bizarre Entertainment have lined up for the spring and summer. Looking to enrol your child in a summer camp? Golden’s you covered! Clown around at Circus Camp or check out Petit Tournesol’s summer French immersion day camp.
Don’t forget to drop by the Town of Golden table to sign up for swimming lessons at the Golden Pool – and get ready for opening on May long weekend. Buy your season’s pass for the pool, share your thoughts on the upcoming season and learn about new initiatives our team has been working on.
“Much like our fall registration evening, this event has become a great way for local organizations to showcase various spring and summer activities,” says Manager of Recreation Services Jordan Petrovics. “The event is so much more than an evening dedicated to program registration for children’s programs. Over the past couple of years we have seen some great new energy and activities from all age demographics get introduced to our community. Make sure you come down to find out more.”
Drop by the Rec Plex on Thursday, April 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All user groups, volunteers and interested members of the public are welcome to attend. Participation for not-for-profit groups in this event is free. Private sector businesses providing recreational benefits in our community are welcome to attend for a $5 fee.
