We have a great way for residents to find out!
On Thursday April 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Town of Golden Recreation team is hosting the annual Community Connection and Spring Registration Night at the Mount 7 Rec Plex.
The expo-style evening provides an ideal place for groups to share their goals and objectives, and for the public to take in dynamic displays and demonstrations from the many recreational opportunities Golden has to offer. It’s also a great way for organizations to network with each other.
“This annual event showcases the many organizations that provide valuable services to our community,” says Mayor Ron Oszust. “It’s a great way for new and long-time members of our community to be informed, get active and get involved.”
This year’s event promises to be both informative and fun. Learn about what is offered at the Golden Seniors Centre, visit with Golden Fire Rescue and find out what Wildsight has lined up for the spring and summer. Looking for new programs for your child? Golden’s got you covered! Check out Éducation en Français’ summer camps and the Kicking Horse Gymnastics Club – to name just a few!
New this year, kids can bring their runner bikes and small pedal bikes (up to 20 inches wheel size) to ride some unique indoor mini bike modules and obstacles provided by the Crux Initiative Society. Bring a helmet and indoor shoes, please.
Don’t forget to drop by the Town of Golden table to sign up for swimming lessons at the
Golden Pool – and get ready for opening day on May long weekend. Buy your season’s pass for the pool, share your thoughts on the upcoming season and learn about new initiatives our team has been working on.
“Much like our fall registration evening, this event has become a great way for local organizations to showcase various spring and summer activities,” says Manager of Recreation Services Jordan Petrovics. “The event is so much more than an evening dedicated to program registration for children’s programs. Over the past couple of years we have seen some great new energy and activities from all age demographics get introduced to our community. Make sure you come down to find out more.”
Drop by the Rec Plex on Thursday, April 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. All user groups, volunteers and interested members of the public are welcome to attend. Participation for not-for- profit groups in this event is free.
