Important update from the CSRD regarding commercial recycling Print Article Font Size
The new tipping fee structure for solid waste disposal and recycling within the CSRD was implemented on July 1, 2017.  Updates to the tipping fees rates were made to ensure the solid waste function maintains financial stability over the long term.

The CSRD’s residential recycling drop-off depot program is managed in partnership with Recycle BC, a provincial stewardship program.   Residents can drop off compliant residential recyclable material at a depot location for no cost.  The CSRD is reimbursed by Recycle BC to operate the residential recycling drop-off depots.

Commercial recycling is not covered under the provincial stewardship program, therefore commercial generators of recycling are responsible to cover the associated fees charged to recycle compliant materials.  The CSRD has developed a fee for service recycling option for the commercial sector at all CSRD landfills.  The tipping fee for commercial recycling at the landfill is $80 per tonne, with a minimum charge of $10.

The commercial recycling bins currently located at the Golden Bottle Depot will remain in place until August 31, 2017.  As of September 1, 2017 commercial generators of recycling will have to take their materials to the Golden Landfill or alternatively, are encouraged to contact local service providers to subscribe to a local recycling pick-up program.
