July 20, 2018 UPDATE from the BC Wildfire Service.
 
The Town would like to remind residents that the best place to keep up to date and informed of the current wildfire situation in the province is through the BC Wildfire Service at https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status  

An interactive map of active wildfires in the province can also be found on this site. Report a wildfire, unattended campfire or open burning violation by calling 1 800 663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cell phone.

The Frenchman’s Ridge wildfire (N41270), approximately 4 km east of Golden, is currently estimated at 0.6 hectares and is now considered to be under control, which means that the fire has received sufficient suppression action to ensure no further spread of the fire. Ground crews are currently onsite.
 
The South Hospital Creek wildfire (N41326), approximately 7 km north east of Golden, it is currently estimated at 0.009 hectares. A rappel attack crew is currently responding.

The South of Mummery Glacier wildfire (N41341), approximately 40 km north east of Golden, is currently estimated at 0.8 hectares. It is currently being monitored by the BC Wildfire Service.

The Town of Golden and the CSRD Area A have an integrated emergency management program, with the Emergency Program Coordinator that works to plan for emergencies that impact the local community.
