Traffic Pattern changes along Highway 95 Print Article Font Size
As part of the Province’s Kicking Horse Canyon Project, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) is completing work in and around Golden.

To prepare for traffic diversions during the construction of the final phase of the Kicking Horse Canyon Project, the following traffic pattern changes will occur in Golden beginning in late October 2020:

Highway 95/Park Drive intersection
  • The intersection will be realigned, with construction requiring approximately five days to complete.
  • During construction, access into and out of Park Drive will be closed. Motorists can use 9th Street South and 9th Avenue South to access Park Drive destinations.
  • The pedestrian crossing will also be closed, and pedestrians should use the pedestrian crossing at 9th Street South. The crossing at Park Drive will be reopened following construction.
  • Once construction is completed, left turns into and out of Park Drive will no longer be permitted.

Highway 95/9th Street South intersection
  • Protected left-turn lanes from the highway to 9th Street South will be provided.

Highway 95/6th Street North intersection
  • The new traffic signal will be activated.

Please watch for signs and traffic control personnel during construction and exercise caution while becoming familiar with the new permanent traffic patterns.
