9th Avenue N. upgrades to begin soon Print Article Font Size
9thAveN_Repaving_2018_08_16.jpgThe Town of Golden is excited to announce that as soon as the week of September 24th, upgrade work is expected to begin on 9th Avenue North from 6th Street North to 10th Avenue North (Big Bend CafĂ© to 7-11).  The work will include minor curbing improvements in a few areas, relocation of a streetlight standard, replacement of a streetscape tree, and milling and repaving of the roadway.

Curbing and other minor work will take place during the day, but will be localized to small work sites within the improvement area. Milling and repaving will occur between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. to minimize impact on daytime business within the improvement area, commencing by approximately October 1st.  All work is expected to be complete on or before October 15th.

“This project is part of the 2018 Corporate Work Plan and one that has been a high priority for Council,” says Mayor Ron Oszust. “The road infrastructure along 9th Avenue North in the historic downtown core was confirmed in the recent Road Condition Assessment and Upgrade Plan to be rated as very poor. We are happy to see this important project get underway to improve our downtown for tourists and residents alike.”

All reasonable efforts will be made by the contractor to minimize construction related disturbances during this time; however, construction noise, heavy equipment traffic, compactor vibration and dust should be expected as the work takes place.  There will be no parking allowed in the work zone between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. beginning October 1st until paving and roadway line-marking have been completed.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we undertake this important downtown improvement project that will significantly increase the durability and attraction of the area.
