May 6, 2021: Golden Local Health Area Whoel Community Vaccination Approach
Interior Health is advising all people 18+ living in the Golden Local Health Area (map) that they will now be invited to book their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Click here to learn more. 

April 23, 2021: The Government of BC has introduced new travel restritions that are in effect immediately until May 25. There are three new Travel Regions, non-essential travel is not allowed between these regions.

  • Stay local – do not travel unless it’s for essential reasons
  •  $575 fines can be given for people not following the travel restrictions
  •  Periodic road checks may be set up on key travel corridors – there will be no random individual stops.

April 20, 2021: Current province-wide restrictions have been extended, learn more here. The new orders are as follows:

Between March 29 at midnight and May 25 at midnight the following province-wide restrictions are in place:

  • The variance allowing indoor religious gatherings and worship services between March 28 and May 13 is suspended
  • Indoor low intensity group exercise classes are cancelled
  • Restaurants, pubs and bars are closed for indoor dining. Outdoor patio seating and take-out or delivery is allowed
  • Workplaces with a COVID-19 exposure may be ordered to close for a minimum of 10 days

It’s time to get immunized

Interior Health is now making appointments for eligible seniors and Aboriginal peoples in our region to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

During this phase of the B.C. Immunization Plan, seniors 80+ and Aboriginal peoples 65+ and Elders are eligible. For specific information and clinic details, please visit: Interior Health’s Vaccine Information site

When you are eligible, call 1-877-740-7747, between the hours of 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. PST/PDT, seven days per week.

Updates from Town Hall:

  • April 19, 2021: Town Hall will be closed to the public effective immediately until further notice out of an abundance of caution for staff and the general public following a confirmed internal exposure to COVID-19. 
  • Limited recreation programs are back at the Rec Plex and Arena, check out the schedule here.

  • Mandatory Masks - November 19: Wearing a mask is now mandatory in all Town of Golden facilities. People who cannot put on or remove a mask are exempt and masks for children under the age of 2 is not recommended.
  • Town Hall Hours of Operation Updated - September 8: Town Hall is now open for in-person services Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can help prevent the spread of all viruses, including COVID-19, with these simple tips:
  • Maintain physical distancing:
    • ⁣⁣Stay 2 metres (6 feet) from others.⁣⁣ If you can't maintain physical distancing, wear a mask.
    • Absolutely NO group gatherings.⁣⁣
    • If the park is busy, leave, and come back later.
  • Wash your hands! The most important thing you can do to prevent coronavirus (and other illnesses) is to wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your face. Washing your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the washroom and when preparing food.
  • Cover it up! Cover your mouth and nose with your arm when coughing and sneezing.
  • Stay home! If you are sick and experiencing fever, cough, sneezing, sore throat or other flu-like symptoms, stay at home and away from others. Do not go to work or school. If you have questions or concerns about your health contact Health Link by dialing 811. If you are advised to seek care, please contact the clinic (250-344-2211) or hospital (250-344-5271) before going in.
  • Clean up! Clean the following high-touch surfaces frequently with regular household cleaners or diluted bleach (1 part bleach to 9 parts water): toys, toilets, phones, electronics, door handles, bedside tables, and tv remotes.
